A VOLTA DO ISON NASA CONFIRMA!

Foto: A team of astronomers is ready to make a final monitoring of Comet ISON or what 's left of it , when the same January 16 will comet passing close to Earth , after being almost totally destroyed by its passage near the Sun So January 16, 2014 will be the day in which the residue of cometary ISON , should cross the orbital plane of the Earth and be easily observed with telescopes .

Despite this optimism , NASA has reported that since December 11 , the comet , officially , after November 28 he had his encounter with the Sun, from the data collected by the space probes detected a loss of mass of the rock before reach perihelion ( closest point to the orbit of a space body to the Sun) , and this suggests that it is not survived.

"The size of the nucleus of ISON could be about five or six football fields. This small size was close to the limit of what it had to be assumed and that after surviving the same ISON during its journey around the Sun , "said one of the experts NASA Alfred McEwen .

In addition, we studied the dust tail of the comet to better understand what has happened . In this regard, the observations made by STEREO Solar Terrestrial Observatory ( NASA) and the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO NASA / ESA) , showed that there was very little dust after the comet had passed perihelion , suggesting that the nucleus of Ison was already broken at that time.

Comet ISON was first seen in September 2012 and was to be a relatively bright comet that was at a great distance from our star . Therefore, the ISON has become one of the events of the year and had high hopes that it would provide a beautiful light show visible in the night sky . Some had called it ' the comet of the century.

Whatever happens, we have to wait for January 16, 2014 , when NASA and its experts will communicate officially if ISON is completely destroyed , or that the residues or the cometary cloud remained after the encounter with the Sun, will continue for years his trip into space . In fact, the U.S. space agency said that this comet is one of those " most frequently occurring " in history since its path was followed , and monitored by various space agencies, via satellites , telescopes and amateur astronomers .
